Be True To Me

from Vulnerability by Prince Pheonix

about

This song was born from frustration, as people often say when they break up with someone "I was better off without you" and with this song I question that, as quite plainly, the phrase "What doesn't kill you makes you stronger" so even if something is bad for you, such as a relationship that doesn't go as planned, can make you better off even if the outcome was negative.

No one is ever better off alone, of course if you enter into a relationship that could see you seriously injured or worse then you're exempt from this, but it does take common sense to analyse a relationship situation before entering into it, especially if you know that it could be risky, doubly so if the person you're considering being with is of a violent nature.

But still, saying that you were better off without the person you spent considerable amounts of time with, is just a wrong thing to say and it gets me rather wound up. Just my two cents I guess. :)

lyrics

I'm going to ask you a question, but before you answer me
Look back, look back
Back into the past, just before the time that you met me

(Oh and)
Can you honestly say (Can you say)
That your life was better then (That your life was better)
Before you had me (Before you had me)
And if i asked (If i ask)
You for one more chance (For one more chance)
Would you tell me to leave? (Would you tell me to leave?)
Would you tell me to leave?

And do you remember the smile
That came onto your face when we spoke
Are you gonna turn around and tell me
That all those times were faked and that I'm just a joke

(Oh and)
Can you honestly say (Can you say)
That your life was better then (That your life was better)
Before you had me (Before you had me)
And if i asked (If i ask)
You for one more chance (For one more chance)
Would you tell me to leave? (Would you tell me to leave?)
Would you tell me to leave?

(Be true to me)
(You're acting like)
(Be true to me)
(Nothing happened)
(Be true to me)
(When you know that)
(Be true to me)
(We had something)

(Be true to me)(You're acting like)
Can you honestly say
(Be true to me)(Nothing happened)
That your life was better then
(Be true to me)(When you know that)
Before you had me
(Be true to me)(We had something)
(Be true to me)(You're acting like)
And if i asked
(Be true to me)(Nothing happened)
You for one more chance
Would you tell me to leave?
(Be true to me)(When you know that)
(Be true to me)(We had something)

(Oh and)
Can you honestly say (Can you say)
That your life was better then (That your life was better)
Before you had me (Before you had me)
(Oh and)
And if i asked (If i ask)
You for one more chance (For one more chance)
Would you tell me to leave? (Would you tell me to leave?)
Would you tell me to leave? (Would you tell me to leave?)
Would you tell me to leave?
