Problem Child (Feat. Lewis Cox) {E}

from Cinderella Fairytales by Prince Pheonix

about

A song written this year for my coursework at University, we were given the brief to write in the African American style and I chose the Jazz style to work to, with a little Rock feel to a guitar. The vocals are soulful yet roughly sung and the Piano & Jazz Organ combo is very stereotypical of that style.

Anyway, that sounds far too formal. I just hope you enjoy the track. It's based on Princess Jasmine's story from Disney's Aladdin. As I'm sure you'll get some of the references from the song.

That's all from me :D But before I go, A Big thanks to Lewis Cox, Kyle Booth & Kyle Worrall from my course, they feature on this track & they all did wonderful jobs on their parts!

lyrics

Knowing you, for as long as I have
I can tell when there’s a problem
In our past, I’ve had so many ways
And I’ve used every one, to solve them

I get nothing from you, when I talk you refuse
There's a lack of communication
And the rest is just sex, it's a lack of respect
That to you doesn't seem to matter

Your contribution’s non-replete
And it’s time we had a tête-à-tête

You cause trouble for me, yet you’re loved unconditionally
But lately I’ve been feeling used
Out of kindness, I gave you a home. But the carpet’s getting a little worn
The truth is you’re a problem, Child!

When we met, You & I, In truth I tried to deny
That you were the girl for me
But after sleeping alone, for so long
I told myself not to give up on love

And now I come to reflect, dissect & inspect
The current state of our affairs
Although you treat me like shit, I put up with it
'Cause I meant I wouldn't give up on you

This empty love’s not what I want
When you tell me that you love me, it’s not from the heart

You cause trouble for me, yet you’re loved unconditionally
But lately I’ve been feeling used
Out of kindness, I gave you a home. But the carpet’s getting a little worn
The truth is you’re a problem, Child!

She’s a problem child, but don’t make her your problem
it’s turning problematic/ Emotions all mixed up in the static/
She’s no longer affected by your absence and it’s making you panic/
Cause you know there might be something else out there/
But every time she enters the room you stop and stare/
Cause you still love the way her body moves/
And even when she whines, her voice still soothes/
But still you know you want something more/
I know you do/ But I just thought that I’d let you know/
Love is not meant to be your stumbling block/
You can’t replace the pieces of this crumbling rock/
But you’re a rolling stone so you paint it black/
I know that if you broke up/ you’d take it back/
But sometimes you just need to know when to walk away/
Maybe that day is today/
But time will pass and you’ll want to give her second chance/
You just need to accept that you chose to advance/
But don’t even give her a second glance/
Cause this love is doing nothing but drawing blanks/
And there could be somebody else in the picture/
Love is a potion and you’re caught up in the mixture/
And if love is your drug then she’s the dealer/
They say time is a healer/
And it usually does take a while/
But get on with things and try to smile/
Don’t try and throw more things on the pile/
And cause things to get hostile/
And so you’ll move on and become versatile/
Eventually the pain will be mild/
But the truth is that she will always be a problem child/

You cause trouble for me, yet you’re loved unconditionally
But lately I’ve been feeling used
Out of kindness, I gave you a home. But the carpet’s getting a little worn
The truth is you’re a problem,
The truth is you’re a problem,
The truth is you’re a problem, Child!
