about

After losing my Grandma to old age, I was asked to perform a song at her cremation ceremony, but out of grief I turned down the opportunity to say my goodbye in my own way, as I wasn't allowed to visit her in hospital...the ceremony came and went and I started to feel guilty that I never said goodbye to her, this song was the result of that guilt, I wrote the song hoping that wherever she ended up, she could hear it and know that I was thanking her for the time I spent with her and that the song was my goodbye to her, a personal and touching song, full of built up emotion.

lyrics

Losing you was the hardest thing that I’ve ever done
I never said you could walk away; I can’t survive on my own
But you left without asking, never saying goodbye
I need a shoulder to cry on and I keep asking myself

Why? Have I lost you?
Why? Did you have to go?
Why? Do I shed a tear, for someone that’s gone?

I keep telling myself that I’ll see you tomorrow
But when tomorrow comes, you’re never there
How long will it take? For me to realise!
That I’m not going to see you, alive again with these eyes

Why? Have I lost you?
Why? Did you have to go?
Why? Do I shed a tear, for someone that’s gone?

All I have are these memories, but I want more!
You can’t have left me, just slammed shut the door!
They say when we die, we go up to heaven
But you can’t hold, clouds and sky

Why? Have I lost you?
Why? Did you have to go?
Why? Do I shed a tear, for someone that’s gone?

Why? Have I lost you?
Why? Did you have to go?
Why? Do I shed a tear, for someone that’s gone?
